No-exam life insurance
Overview of what accelerated underwriting is, which applicants qualify, what happens if you do, and what to expect if you don't.
Many carriers use accelerated underwriting: for applicants in a certain age range requesting standard amounts, a carrier decides based on your application, prescription records, and driving history rather than ordering a physical exam. Approvals can come in hours or days. Every quote on this site makes clear whether an exam is likely, might be needed, or isn't required.
What it changes
No exam does not mean no review. The carrier verifies your answers, and a policy issued based on wrong information can be challenged for two years. If the carrier's records raise red flags, they may still request an exam or lab work; at that moment you choose whether to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Typically applicants under age 60, requesting coverage below the carrier's accelerated amount threshold, with no serious health conditions and no nicotine use for a year or longer. If you've seen a doctor recently with blood work, several carriers will use those results instead of ordering a new exam.
Should the carrier request one, the medical exam is usually a quick 20-30 minute visit by a trained paramedic to your home or workplace in the Danville area, at no expense to you. For healthy applicants, exam results often lead to a better rate class, so the exam frequently works in your favor.
